WE INTERRUPT THIS BLOG FOR THE FOLLOWING NEWS ITEM…

Vincenzo e Susanna woke up on a lovely Thursday morning (yesterday) and started to think about their trip home.

  • Tickets for the train to Rome on Sunday morning.  Check.
  • Times verified for the connecting train to Fiumicino airport.  Check
  • Reservations made for airport hotel.  Check
  • Call hotel to arrange shuttle for pick-up from airport.  Check
What could possibly go wrong?

NATIONAL 24 HOUR RAILWAY STRIKE ON SUNDAY!!!!!

The rest of Thursday then got « railroaded » (pardon the pun) to figure out alternate arrangements.

  • Ok, ok, ok. Deep breath
  • Easiest solution:  just leave on Saturday and book a 2nd night in the Airport hotel.
    • BONG!  Hotel is sold out on Saturday.  Nuts!
    • Realization:  It’s the week before Easter and this is ROME!!  Uh-oh.
    • Several tries later, hotel found.  Phew!
So much for their last relaxing day in Salerno!

The joys of travel.
